Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk

Believe it or not, the greatest enemy in your life isn’t your childhood bully.

It’s not your boss, or your ex-spouse. It’s not the corrupt federal government, or demonic health care “regulators” forcing all of us, willing or unwilling, into the rapacious hands of their Big Pharma overlords.

It’s your mind!

That’s right. For most of us, our minds are our biggest enemies. That’s where all insecurity, depression, and apathy originates. Your mind beats on you 24 hours a day, and it never gets tired.

Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk:

The Enemy Never Sleeps!

You want a better job, but your mind says, “I’ll never find anything, and even if I did, the next job might be worse than my current one! I’ll just accept my sh*tty position and ride it out until I retire.”

You want to ask your boss for a raise, but your mind says, “My boss could replace me so easily! It’s not like I’m good at my job, anyway. If I ask for a raise, he’ll just say no. Then I’ll be on his radar.”

You want to find a new relationship, but your mind keeps telling you, “I’m not good-looking enough. I’m not smart enough, or funny enough. No one attractive would ever want to date me.”

These are all examples of negative self-talk, and it’s wrecking your life.

Negative self-talk poisons and snuffs out your sense of ambition. It’s the glue that can potentially trap you in a bad job, a bad relationship, and a bad state of mind your whole life!

For most of us, the negativity becomes so automated, so ingrained in our minds, we don’t even notice it anymore. We take for granted that it’s all true, and we live our lives in quiet acquiescence.

Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk:

The cure is so simple, it's kinda hard to believe!

What if there was a simple way to replace negative thoughts with positive ones?

What if you could program yourself to think and behave like someone with all the confidence, self-esteem, and ambition in the world?

What if you could train yourself to block out self-doubt, believe in your abilities, and constantly charge toward your dreams?

You’d have more money, more success, and better relationships. Your sense of self-worth would skyrocket! You’d feel better about your place in the world, and your life would become something you actually looked forward to each morning.

Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk:

What are "affirmations?"

Affirmations are positive statements used to overcome negative self-talk and build self-confidence.

They can be used to target specific areas of your life, such as your self-esteem, your confidence, or your relationships. They can help you overcome phobias. They can help you feel motivated about undertaking difficult but rewarding challenges, like starting your own business.

Simply put, affirmations enable you to habitually think the way you want to think!

The right technique is crucial.

To use them effectively, it is important to choose positive statements that resonate with you. For example, if you struggle with feelings of self-doubt, you might use affirmations such as “I am capable and confident,” or “I trust in my abilities.”

This entire website is organized around life categories. Whatever your current problem is, try to find a related category at the top of this page, or on the right side-bar.

When you find a set of affirmations you like, print them out and read them for 5 minutes straight, everyday. Watch the free mental training videos, which contain the same affirmations as the PDF’s, but set to relaxing music and imagery.

Try to say them with conviction, as if they are already true. Visualize them. Repeat them as many times as possible.

It’s a good idea to place the free PDF sheets in areas where you will see them regularly, such as on a mirror, on your desk, or in your car. The more you see them, the more likely you are to read them.

In practically no time, the positive thoughts will become your default way of thinking. At that point, your feelings and behavior automatically improve, and the whole world becomes your oyster!

Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk:

Keep a close watch on your enemy!

In addition to using affirmations, it’s also important to pay attention to your thoughts and catch yourself when you have a negative one.

Whenever you notice a negative thought creeping in, try to reframe it in a positive way. For example, when you hear yourself saying “I’ll never be able to do this,” try thinking “I’ll figure out a way to do this.”

More importantly, take note of the negative thought. Use it to guide the direction of your daily, written affirmations. For example, if I find myself feeling insecure about my job, I’ll grab my notebook and write 10 sentences affirming how confident I feel. I’ll immediately read those affirmations for 5 minutes straight, and then every morning after that.

Other times, I’ll just go to this website and watch the 5 minute video on confidence. The images and music relax me, and the fact that I can access the videos on my phone makes it super convenient.

Using Affirmations to Overcome Negative Self-Talk:

Take control of your life!

Whether you choose to read the free PDF printouts found on this site, watch the 5-minute videos, or write your own positive statements in a notebook, you should work on your affirmations every single day.

5 minutes is all it takes.

Don’t wait for a certain aspect of your life to fall apart before programming yourself to handle it. Don’t wait until you’re depressed before you start programming yourself to feel good. Decide now how you want to think and feel, and use affirmations to permanently attain it.

Remember: By optimizing your mind, you optimize your entire life.

Good luck!
