“When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies only in yourself.”
Chief Tecumseh believed in the importance of appreciating what you have. Affirmations of gratitude can train you to be that kind of person.

Affirmations of Gratitude:

The Secret for Eternal Prosperity!

affirmations of grattitude: learning to be grateful for what you have is the key to happiness.

It’s so important to be grateful for the things you have. This has been known for thousands of years.

That’s why every spiritual tradition from Buddhism, to Christianity, to the religion of the ancient Egyptians, has encouraged gratitude.

Whatever Your Spiritual Beliefs Are, It Behooves You to be Grateful.

Have you ever given someone a really nice gift, but they clearly didn’t appreciate it? How did that make you feel?

Did you feel more inclined to shower this person with presents in the future, or less?

How you felt is probably true of all sentient beings.

Whether you believe in God, karma, spirit guides, or some other form of higher intelligence, no one likes ingratitude.

Whichever higher power is running this show will be less inclined to give you things, if their previous blessings went unnoticed and unappreciated.

Affirmations of Gratitude:

You Don’t Need to Be Spiritual to Understand.

affirmations of grattitude: if you can be happy with simple things, then you'll always be happy.

Being grateful has many positive effects that have been proven by science.

A healthy sense of gratitude will make you happier, and less prone to depression. This improves your immune system, and protects you from everything from the common cold, to cancer.

When you recognize how many gifts you’ve already received, you expect more in the future, so you don’t worry as much.  You go through life with the reassuring feeling that there must be some hidden force looking out for you, and you feel safe.

But it doesn’t come naturally.

Gratitude isn’t just a feeling; it’s a skill, and it takes practice. You’ve got to purposefully develop the habit of seeing the good in your life, every single day.

Why is it so hard to be grateful?

affirmations of gratitude: gratefulness is a virtue, but it wasn't necessarily a priority in prehistoric times.

Humans didn’t evolve to be grateful.

We evolved to constantly be on the lookout for danger; to think of bad things constantly, so we could prepare for them and survive.

If our ancestors succeeded in bringing down a woolly mammoth or a buffalo, it didn’t pay to stand around appreciating the delicious meat they just scored.

They had to immediately scan the area for saber toothed tigers, attracted by the smell of blood! They had to look for poisonous snakes. They had to listen for the sound of rival tribes, intent on slaughtering them.

Death lurked around every corner.

Have you ever seen a pigeon eat? It drops its head just long enough to pick up a single, tiny bread crumb. As soon as it has the crumb, it’s head pops right back up and looks for danger, with the wild eyes of a madman.

Bread crumb. Danger! Bread crumb. Danger!

That’s what we’re designed to do. The instinct to constantly look for bad things is what kept us alive.

Affirmations of Gratitude:

Breaking 6 million years of bad mental habits!

Today, there are no saber toothed tigers. Advances in agriculture have provided most of us with a survivable amount of nutrition, without the need to risk our lives for it.

We don’t have to constantly be on the lookout for danger anymore. We don’t have to be slaves to our primitive instincts.

By using affirmations for gratitude, you can re-program your mind to stop thinking negatively. You can program it to start seeing the good in your life, and to expect more good things to come.

Expectation becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

All it takes is practice.

The Method:

Read these affirmations to yourself every single day, for 5 minutes straight. Do it in a place where you won’t be distracted, away from friends, family, and pets.

You can print the PDF sheet, or you can watch the video. In either case…

Silence your phone! Focus.

5 minutes straight (set a timer).

The more you repeat these thoughts, the more they become habitual. In no time at all, gratefulness will become your default state of being, and then your whole life will improve.

Affirmations of Gratitude: What Happens When They Start Working?

affirmations of gratitude: happiness is loving what you have, whatever it is.

First of all, you’ll feel happier. That’s the most important thing.

Happy people are always more fun to be around than those who are depressed, so your friends and family will enjoy being around you more. Romantic relationships will improve.

If you’re single, you might attract a partner just based on the good vibes you’re giving off to the world.

You’ll feel more confident, because when you realize how much good fortune you’ve already been blessed with, you’ll naturally expect that lucky streak to continue.

This general expectation of success will lead you to pursue new ambitions, too intimidating for most people, like starting a business or learning a musical instrument in adulthood.

The blessings will increase over time. Every single aspect of your life will get better, and your friends will begin to see you as “one of those lucky people.”

Do the affirmations. Be grateful for what you have.

The universe will notice, and give you even more.

Good luck!

(It’s hard to be grateful for what we have now, if our past still haunts us. Please see affirmations for forgiveness.)
